Flying Scot SS with Embroidery Merino Wool Cycling Jersey
The Flying Scot was a bicycle marque used by Scottish bicycle manufacturer, David Rattray and Co. in Glasgow.
Rattray were probably the largest maker of lightweight bicycles in Scotland and were in business between 1901 and 1982. Their Flying Scot bicycles were used by serious racers throughout the UK, with the reputation of the bicycles making overt advertising campaigns unnecessary.
Over 15,000 Flying Scots were handbuilt, mostly with Reynolds tubing.
But the lore of Scottish cycling doesn’t end there. Most know of that other Scottish home-bike-builder Graeme Obree, whose incredible story saw him forever linked with the "Flying Scotsman" moniker.
But don’t forget Scot Robert Millar, who came 4th in the 1984 Tour de France, won three other stages, and also won stages of the Vuelta and Giro. He was King of the Mountain in both the Vuelta and the Giro in 1987.
Twenty years later and Robert’s Scottish namesake David Millar appeared, taking stages in the Tour de France, the Vuelta, and winning the UK time trial and road race championships.
And last but not least is Edinburgh-born track rider Sir Chris Hoy, the most successful Olympic cyclist of all time: Hoy is an eleven-time world champion six-time Olympic champion and a winner of seven Olympic games medals, six gold and one silver.

★★★★★A lovely pieceI just received my Flying Scot sweater and could not be happier! What a lovely piece and I am actually not even sure about wearing it! I don't want to get it dirty. So glad I have it and wanted to let you know, now I am going to have to spend thousands restoring the bike!

★★★★★Flying ScotThis company worked with me every step of the way to the final design. I was working on behalf of the Flying Scot community so everyone had there input. The final item was not a disappointment and has been ordered by Flying Scot fans all over the world. I have had mine a few years now and still good as new. The merino wool keeps you warm in winter but is breathable in summer and is soft and comfortable as can be. I last wore it on a Flying Scot time trial just a few weeks ago - very happy with my purchase and the quality of the product.
